VANESSA SCOTT - Chief Operating Officer & Chief Financial Officer; Houston Dash and Houston Dynamo FC

Vanessa Scott serves as the Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer for the Houston Dash and Houston Dynamo FC. In her current role, she oversees all administrative functions and general operations related to the MLS and NWSL clubs in Houston, Shell Energy Stadium, the Houston Sports Park, and Dynamo & Dash Charities. During her 10-year tenure with the club, she has held various positions reflecting her ascension through the finance field.

During her time with Houston Dynamo FC, Scott has been instrumental in leading various organizational initiatives ranging from ownership transitions to system implementations and the development of key administrative departments that support ongoing organizational needs. She currently serves as the Executive Sponsor for the Hispanic/Latino Employee Supporter Group and has been a major contributor in areas specific to business and strategic planning, company culture, and DE&I.

Prior to her career with Houston Dynamo FC, Scott held roles in both the accounting and ticket operations departments with the Houston Rockets and Toyota Center for several years. She is a founding member of the WISE Houston Chapter and a Board Member for Financial Executives International (FEI).

Scott is a native of Houston, Texas. She graduated from Tulane University as a scholarship student-athlete in Track and Field where she earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degree in finance. To remain a student of her craft, Scott received her second master’s degree in accounting in May of 2023.

                                                                                                                                                                                      

Vivian Mora

VIVIAN MORA, SHRM-SCP - Chief People Office, People and Culture; Camillo Companies

Vivian L. Mora joined the Camillo Companies in late September 2020. In her current role, Vivian is responsible for all People and Culture functions for the companies owned by the Camillo family, including SimplyHome (formerly Camillo Properties), Legend Homes, Academy Land Development, and LCI Services. She is accountable for aligning People and Culture strategy with the various companies’ business strategies and objectives, this includes talent acquisition; talent management; total rewards including compensation and benefits; leadership, management, and employee development; succession planning; diversity, equity, and inclusion; and overall employee engagement.

Prior to joining the Camillo Companies, Vivian served as Vice President of Human Resources (HR) for the Houston Astros, a Major League Baseball franchise, its Minor League Affiliates, Spring Training Complex, and Minute Maid Park from 2013 through 2020. Vivian’s HR background also includes the launch of Mora & Associates, a human capital consulting firm owned and operated by Mora for several years. Before launching Mora & Associates, Vivian served in various leadership roles including Vice President of Human Resources for the NBA Houston Rockets and Toyota Center from 2001 through 2008; Human Resources Leader for Texas-based HEB Grocery Company’s Houston Retail Support Center; and progressive positions in energy with Constellation Energy and Entergy Corporation.

Vivian’s educational background includes a Master of Social Science concentrating in sociology/human behavior with a minor concentration in economics from the University of Mississippi and a Bachelor of Science in marketing from Jackson State University. She holds the highest level of human resources certification with the Society for Human Resource Management’s certification as a Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP).

Vivian served as a member of The Equity at Work Council, an interdisciplinary group of thought leaders and practitioners working together to promote the science underpinning diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEI&B). Mora is also affiliated with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM); Women Leaders in Homebuilding (WLHB); and the Greater Houston Homebuilders Association’s Professional Women in Building.  Vivian is regular conference speaker on professional and industry topics.

Vivian is also deeply passionate about female empowerment, by helping girls realize their potential and exercise their rights, through her involvement with Girls Inc. of Greater Houston. She served on the Board of Directors for several consecutive terms. 

In 2017, Vivian was selected by Houston Woman Magazine as one of Houston’s 50 Most Influential Women of the year. Vivian has a not-so-secret identity as a professional artist. She resides in Houston, Texas and has a son, Michael, who is a student at Laguna College of Art and Design, and two mostly well-behaved dogs.

                                                                                                                                                                                      

AMBER BURDA - Chief Revenue Officer; Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo

Amber Burda is the Chief Revenue Officer of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo™, one of the world’s largest rodeo and livestock exhibitions. She oversees ticketing, corporate partnerships, and official sponsorships, driving revenue growth for the iconic event.

A graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University in hospitality administration, Burda began her career in event management at NRG Park before joining Mattress Firm, where she built and managed partnerships with more than 300 events nationwide. She joined the Rodeo in 2017 as Executive Director of Sponsorships, Business and Corporate Development, leading the team responsible for creating and executing all official Rodeo sponsorships.

Recognized for her leadership and community impact, Burda was honored as a Houston Business Journal “Women Who Mean Business” in 2023 and received the Outstanding Young Alumni Award from her alma mater in 2024. She lives in Santa Fe, Texas, with her husband, Greg, and their two children.

                                                                                                                                                                                      

BRIANA REID - General Counsel; LOVB

Briana Reid serves as Counsel, Compliance at League One Volleyball (LOVB), where she leads key initiatives at the intersection of athlete safety, legal compliance, and NIL. In her role, she manages incident reporting and response related to athlete safety, including direct reporting to the U.S. Center for SafeSport, CPS and/or law enforcement where required, as well as triages and addresses other concerns that impact athlete health, safety, and well-being. She also leads the legal and compliance strategy for the organization’s NIL program, including contract development, athlete negotiations, and educational programming for both collegiate and youth athletes.

Drawing on her experience at the NCAA and Fanatics, Briana has developed a solid foundation in compliance, regulatory frameworks, and athlete-centered policy. A former collegiate volleyball player at UT-Chattanooga, she brings both professional insight and personal perspective to her work, and is dedicated to fostering safer, more supportive environments where athletes can thrive.

                                                                                                                                                                                      

[MODERATOR] Teresa Hudson - Partner; Munck Wilson Mandala LLP

Teresa Hudson is a Partner at Munck Wilson Mandala and a member of the WeAreNIL team as an NIL Advisor and Educator.  Teresa is an accomplished executive with nearly 30 years of experience as a trusted adviser and consult to senior leadership, board members, and business partners.  Her legal practice focuses on employment and labor law.  She has a successful track-record aligning complex employment programs with business objectives and establishing long lasting relationships. Teresa has worked in the C-suite as an HR executive, credentialed mediator, and served as a strategic partner to Fortune 500 companies, Tier 1 institutions of higher education, and various non-profit organizations. 

Teresa actively supports DEI initiatives as a Sub-Committee Chair of the DEI Committee with the Houston Bar Association. She works with many community initiatives, including Social Action, and is the current Vice President of the LaMarque Alumni Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated. She is a member of the Thurgood Marshall School of Law Alumni Board and serves as the Board Secretary. 

As mom of a collegiate D1 athlete, who played his sport since the age 7, she know college sports from the perspective of the athlete as well as the school and parent. Teresa earned her Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences & HR Management from Tulane University and is a graduate of Texas Southern University’s Thurgood Marshall School of Law.

In 2006, Teresa founded The Hudson Law Group and represented clients in all phases of litigation and consulted on various employment law and human resources matters.

Representative Accolades:

  • Received favorable settlement of less than $1 million in wage claim class action suit filed under the Private Attorney General Act (PAGA) demanding $18 million
  • Obtained favorable settlements on behalf of nationwide companies sued in various employment actions in state and federal agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Department of Labor, and the Texas Workforce Commission, regarding claims of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation using mediation and negotiation, significantly reducing company exposure.
  • Received favorable decisions ranging from $300 to $90,000 and a favorable settlement alleging sexual harassment under the California Department of Fair Employment and Housing for less than 10% of complainant’s demand.
  • Implemented the initial COVID-19 response and emergency implementation of internal program/processes early 2020, including guidance regarding the Families First Coronavirus Response Act and the CARES Act.
